 what is a mains-powered tool?
Mains electricity is the general-purpose alternating-current electric power supply. In New Zealand, the Mains voltage is 230V. Which is an a.c. (Alternate Current) This means that the current is constantly changing direction. Mains powered tools are the tools that can only be used Mains power.

Give three examples of a mains power tool?
Grinder 
impact drill
circular saw 

What is a task the tool is used for?
grinder: can be used for cutting up long pieces of a bar or used as a sander to give the metal a shiny finish.
impact drill: used to drill holes in things like strong metals and concrete.
circular saw: A circular saw is a power-saw using a toothed or abrasive disc or blade to cut different materials using a rotary motion. 
  • A circular saw is a tool for cutting many materials such as wood, masonry, plastic, or metal and may be hand-held or mounted to a machine.

General safety around electricity?
check for any exposed wires 
keep the cord out of any water 
disconnect the cord when finished
if a fault is found report it to the person in charge 

what is an "RCD"?
A residual-current device, or residual-current circuit breaker, is a device that quickly breaks an electrical circuit to prevent serious harm from an ongoing electric shock. it can save your life. 

What is meant by double insulation?
Double insulation is an insulation that consists of both basic insulation and supplementary insulation. Equipment such as hand-held domestic electric drilling machines has the additional safety precaution of double insulation.
